Nike has announced a suspension of its endorsement deal with Minnesota Vikings player Adrian Peterson following allegations of child abuse.
"Nike in no way condones child abuse or domestic violence of any kind and has shared our concerns with the NFL," company spokesman KeJuan Wilkins said in a statement, according to ESPN. "The running back, one of the NFL’s top stars, was arrested Saturday in Texas on charges of recklessly or negligently injuring a child, which triggered a debate on the difference between discipline and abuse. Peterson has apologized for disciplining his child with a switch, leaving him cut on the legs, arms and genitals. Peterson, in a statement Monday, said, 'I am, without a doubt, not a child abuser,'" The Washington Post reports.Peterson's jersey was no longer available on the NFL's official online store as of Wednesday night. It is also unavailable on NFLShop.com and all Nike stores as well as the company's online site.nike air max halvalla
This also means Peterson won't be paid under the terms of Nike's endorsement contract. Previously, Nike, the world's largest sports shoe and apparrel company, made the decision to terminate the contracts of both Ray Rice and Oscar Pistorius.Other sponsors which have suspended support for the NFL player include Radisson Hotels, All Day Foundation and Target, KMSP-TV details.Even while Peterson is on the NFL's exempt list, he will continue to be paid his $11.75 million salary.nike air max osta
